Obedience training is always paramount in having a well-balanced, confident and happy dog. Through obedience your dog learns her position in the pack and therefore better understands what is expected of her. Dogs are pack animals and without this sense of order and hierarchy a variety of behavioral problems can occur. It is therefore important for the proper development of your dog that you, as his or her leader, establish and maintain the boundaries of what is and is not acceptable. Remember, your dog needs your leadership!

Our basic obedience (level I) training course consists of training your dog to successfully carry out the commands listed below on-leash regardless of the surrounding environment or distractions. Our advanced obedience (level II) program consists of doing all basic commands off-leash in addition to other commands that are custom-designed for your needs.

Sit - dog sits down in the proper position.

Down - dog lies down in the proper position.

Stand - dog stands on all four legs.

Stay - dog stays at any position (sit, down, stand) until released.

Release - dog is released from stay position.

Come - dog comes straight to you and sits directly in front of you.

Heel - dog walks on your left side according to your speed.

Right turn (heel) - dog turns right while heeling next to you.

Left turn (heel) - dog turns left while heeling next to you.

International turn (heel) - dog turns right around you as you turn left.

Carpet/Corner - dog goes to his/her designated spot in the home.

And other special commands that we offer during training that will make your life easier.

Our obedience program is very customizable and we work to achieve your goals. We can teach specific commands that you need, in addition to the basic commands, at no extra charge. We can also do the private classes outside your home or at a dog park, if you like, in order to cover your dog's socialization needs as well.

Training benefits

A trained dog has more freedom and is generally happier because her owner trusts her more and restricts her less.
